Cazuelita Los Reyes
Small cazuelas for salsas, salt, and even cooking.
A new item from the women's collective that makes our bean pots in Los Reyes Metzontle. The clay is very special to the region and actually has talc in it. There is no fear of lead as the pieces are unglazed. Instead, they're burnished with quartz rocks.
These mini-cazuelas are great looking but also practical. You can use them for salt, nuts, serving salsa, etc, but if you have a gas stove, you can actually cook with them. Start at a low heat and let them warm up and then add some bean broth and an egg, maybe a dash of chile sauce, and you'll have a fine savory breakfast before you know it. It's fun to bring these from the stove to the table, still bubbling. It's dramatic and delicious.
Aside from everything, they're just too cute.
Please note: These items are handmade and there will be variances. That's part of their charm. If you prefer precision to a more free form style, these probably aren't for you. They vary in size; the average size is 3.5 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches tall.
