New to Rancho Gordo. Desi Chana, also known as Black Garbanzos and Kala Chana, are unique thick-skinned legumes with a dense, rich interior. Our California-grown new-crop Desi Chana cook quicker and have a superior slightly nutty flavor to commodity crops.
Although similar to classic garbanzos, they aren't interchangeable. We've enjoyed them in salads and especially in this recipe for Chana Masala.
