During our trip to Kansas City, Rancho Gordo General Manager Susan Sanchez and I felt like the toasts of the town. Susan, being a KC native, actually was. Between meeting all her family and old restaurant buddies, it was clear that we were on her home turf. I was on a BBQ high but I did notice!
The trip's crescendo was a lovely farm dinner held at Green Dirt Farms in Weston. It's a working farm, producing fabulous sheep's milk cheese. Sarah and her staff put on a royal party and if you're looking to do a special event, curator Tony Glamcevski can help you make the best use of the farm's facilities.
Our dinner's chef was the super-talented Jennifer Maloney of Cafe Sebastienne in the Kemper Museum. She's a wonderful woman with a laugh as big as her talent.
Here are some beautiful photos from photographer Paul Ingold, a talented photographer tied into the Kansas City food scene.
