Information Collected on this Site: Personal and Non-Personal
When you visit the Site, we collect certain basic, non-personal information about you and your browser. Examples of such non-personal information include: what type of browser and operating system you are using, how long you remained on our Site, and what pages you looked at while here. This non-personal information is anonymous and helps us understand how visitors browse our Site so that we can improve their shopping experience.
When you place an order using the Site’s online store, we ask you to supply certain personal information so that we may process and fulfill your order. This information consists of name, email address, phone number, credit card number, and billing and shipping addresses. This information is required to ensure that your item(s) are paid for and shipped to the correct address.
At checkout, you have the option to create an account for convenience when placing future orders. You are not required to create an account. If you elect to create an account, doing so will cause your name, address(es), and order history to be preserved and recalled when you log in to your account. If you elect not to create an account, you will be required to reenter your personal information for each future order you place on the Site.
We maintain account holders personal information in a secure customer database and such information will be stored until your account is closed. You may access the personal information you have submitted to Rancho Gordo at any time by selecting “My Account”. From here you can make changes to your account and also opt-out of any marketing e-emails or newsletters by completing the unsubscribe form. You can also make changes to your account and/or opt-out of any emails or newsletters by sending us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may request the prompt deletion of any of your personal information collected by us by contacting us at email@example.com.
Please Note: Unless you are a member of our Bean Club, we DO NOT save or store your credit card information on the Site, in our databases, or on paper. This means that you will be required to reenter your payment information each time you place an order on the Site. Members of our Bean Club will have their credit card information saved in our secure customer database to facilitate the recurring Bean Club membership charge each quarter.
Protecting Your Information
Rancho Gordo is the sole owner of the non-personal information collected on this Site. As noted above, limited personal information is collected from you by us when you place an order on the Site. We make every effort to ensure that any data that we store about you is kept behind a secure firewall in our customer database and is not accessible to the public in any way.
Any sensitive personal information we collect from you (e.g., payment information) is encrypted with SSL, a standard internet security measure. We do everything in our power to protect user data offline as well, by restricting access to information to only those employees who need the information to perform a specific job.
Although we use our best efforts to protect the security of your information and our system, due to the open nature of the Internet, no transmission via the internet is guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, you assume that risk by using the Site.
We will not sell, share, or rent any information collected from you to others, except as otherwise disclosed in this statement; and you, our customer, have the right to prevent this disclosure at any time (at no cost to you). Although we work with third parties, such as web hosting services to host this Site and to transact sales, outside shipping companies to ship orders, and credit card processing companies to bill users for goods and services, we require all such third parties to (1) keep any information they receive confidential, (2) maintain the privacy of all our customers, and (3) use any information they receive from us only for the purpose of providing services to or on behalf of Rancho Gordo and the customer. All our employees are kept up to date on our security and privacy practices and are aware of the importance of keeping customer data secure and safe at all times.
From time to time, we may also employ other companies and individuals to perform services for us, to maintain and operate the Site, and to maintain certain features on the Site. To such parties, we may disclose non-personal information such as traffic patterns and website usage data, but in no event will we disclose any of your personal information. Again, we require all such third parties to keep any information they receive private and confidential and to only use such information for the services they provide to or on behalf of Rancho Gordo.
We will retain and use your information only as necessary for billing and shipping purposes, to improve our Site, to evaluate our business operations, and to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you have any questions about the security of our Site, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers have incorporated “do not track” features to enable users to make privacy and security choices. By using these settings, your browser may send a signal to our website not to collect tracking information. Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.
Rancho Gordo reserves the right to disclose your information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our Site.
Rancho Gordo reserves the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, with or without notice to its customers.
