Eating Beans on New Year's Day for Good Luck

Print
This is the time of year the complaints about our not growing black-eye peas come in. We only grow indigenous New World varieties (except for garbanzos) so it doesn't make sense for us to grow them. Plus, I'm not a huge fan. I declare here and now that for really good luck, you need to eat black beans on New Year's Day. P1010131 This dish was made with black Midnight beans, Mexican chorizo and boiled nopales (cactus paddles). I don't care what anyone says, whoever eats this dish is destined for good things. So throw down your pea habit and make you luck by ingesting black beans this New Year's Day. It's the modern way to a lucky day!
