I've written about cactus before, even blending it with pineapple juice, but last month when I was in Mexico City I made them part of my daily routine and I have to wonder if this drink wasn't part of the reason I stayed healthy and even lost a few pounds.
I tried to watch the ladies make their famous licuado with cactus paddles and pineapple. They move fast but I think it was just the nopales, pineapple chunks and water. I tried it at home this morning and it was too thick but the flavor was right.
Not based on science, my theory is travel in Mexico should include regular intake of this drink, plus tequilas and limes. Everyone was dropping around me like flied yet my health never failed me, not even briefly!
