This is what I would normally say is a very typical Mexican store. I don't think the panda aspect is all that inspired but I love the look of the hand painting. Until very recently, most stores in Mexico had this look.
Seemingly overnight, desktop graphics have taken over and signs like this one, clearly executed via a computer and a laser printer, have taken over. They're ugly, cheap and look even worse as they weather.
I understand why El Pandita, a shoe store, might want to be in fashion and keep up and seem trendy, but my hearts breaks a little when I think we might be losing this great style.
If you're really a fan, you'll want to pick up a copy of Sensacional, an out of print tribute to Mexican handmade signs.
