Heirloom Beans
Heirloom Beans tend to have a lower yield and can be much more difficult to grow but the pay off is in the unique flavors and textures that you don't find with bland commodity beans.
You can find a list of our waitlist beans here.

View collectionRancho Gordo: Holiday 2025
This is the time of the year when we remind you to breathe deeply and try your best to relax. If you are a gift-giver, that's admirable and kind, but remember, no one's happiness depends on your shopping! Well, unless you have children, and even then, relax.
We guess that your real happiness will come from spending quality time with quality people. Gifts are nice, but they're a bonus.
SALAD OF THE DAY
It's hot. It's relentless. You have hunger, and you crave good food, but the idea of standing over a stove is not very appealing. Welcome to summer—your summer of bean salads.
Cook a pot of beans on Sunday night. It will last the week and you'll be grateful you have them on hand. Throughout the week, open the refrigerator and let inspiration take over. Toss a few beans in a mixed green salad one night. Next, make a proper bean salad like one of the salads here. If you have beans left over, puree them and make a spread or dip. The fruits of your labor last Sunday will be appreciated long after the pot is cleaned and put away.
These are some of our favorite beans and lentils use in salads.

It's been a very long winter.
We can say so many trite, cliched things about spring, but you know what? They're all true and remarkable.
To celebrate, we have new beans, old favorites, and recipes inspired by the season.
The Rancho Gordo-Xoxoc Project
These items are the results of our two companies working together to help small farmers continue to grow their indigenous products in Mexico, despite international trade policies that seem to discourage genetic diversity and local food traditions.
